Why do I need professional help?+
Life is rarely without challenges. Delaying professional help may inadvertently magnify issues and affect more areas of your life. It is a proven fact that early intervention leads to better outcomes. A psychologist helps you find the source of your struggles and gives you the tools to overcome them.
What kind of help can I get from a psychologist?+
A psychologist can help you manage stress and anxiety, find the source of depression, overcome fears, improve relationships, address eating and sleeping disorders, build self-esteem, and prepare for high-pressure situations like interviews or public speaking. Simply getting problems out in the open helps many people improve mental clarity and become more task-oriented.
Should I contact a psychologist only for serious problems?+
Not at all. Psychologists help with a wide range of situations — not just clinical conditions. You can book a session to prepare for a big event, improve your self-confidence, understand your thought patterns better, or simply to have a clearer mind. If it affects your mental health or quality of life, it is worth addressing.
What's the difference between a psychologist and a friend?+
A friend offers personal support but is influenced by emotions and your shared history. A psychologist is trained to listen without bias, ask the right questions to uncover meaning, and guide you without personal involvement. The session is focused entirely on you. A good friend and a good psychologist together is a real advantage.
Why shouldn't I just take medication?+
Medication alone cannot solve all psychological issues. Counselling helps you understand your feelings, identify what makes you feel low or anxious, and develop lasting coping strategies. Medication can sometimes be useful in conjunction with counselling — if that is the case, you will be referred to the appropriate medical professional.
My partner and I are having problems. Can we come together?+
Yes — both individual and couple counselling are available at Satvana Counselling. Couple counselling addresses relationship dynamics, communication patterns, conflict resolution, and mutual understanding between partners. If both parties wish to attend separate individual sessions, that option is also available with full confidentiality maintained for each person. The approach is tailored to your specific needs and goals.
Will my sessions be completely private?+
Yes, absolutely. Everything shared in a counselling session is strictly confidential. No information can be released without your written permission. Your counsellor will explain confidentiality in full during your first session.
Do you prescribe medication?+
No. Only qualified medical doctors can prescribe medication. If medication appears to be needed, you will be referred to the appropriate medical professional. The sessions here use a positive, talking-based psychological approach.
How do I make an appointment?+
Fill in the Contact form on this website. You will receive a call shortly to confirm the appointment date and time. Payment must be completed before the appointment is confirmed.
How much does it cost and how do I pay?+
Sessions are ₹1000 per session for clients in India, and US$40 per session for NRIs abroad. A minimum of two sessions is required. Payment is via GPay or Netbanking and must be completed before the appointment is confirmed.
Can I opt for only one session?+
While we recommend a minimum of two sessions for the most meaningful and effective counselling experience, we understand every situation is unique. Please contact us to discuss what works best for your needs.
Are there guidelines for sessions?+
For online sessions: please sit in a calm, private room where no one else is present. Join 5 minutes before your appointment time. Use earphones or headphones for the best experience and to maintain confidentiality.
For in-person sessions: please arrive 5 minutes early at the agreed location. The session is for the client only — family members should not be present unless specifically requested.
Do you offer in-person sessions?+
Yes. Face-to-face in-person sessions are available in addition to online (video and audio call) sessions. Please mention your preference when filling in the booking form and we will confirm the location and details when we call to confirm your appointment.
For online sessions, do you insist on video calling?+
Video calling is more effective for online counselling and is recommended. However, audio-only calls are available upon client request.
Why can't I just get help from AI tools?+
AI tools can be useful for information — but they cannot replace the experience of being truly heard by another human being. Here is why that distinction matters deeply when it comes to mental health.
Counselling is not about getting answers. It is about the quality of the relationship between you and your counsellor. A trained psychologist does not just listen to your words — they notice your pauses, your tone, the things you almost say and then stop. They pick up on patterns across your sessions that no AI can track. They hold space for your emotions in a way that is fundamentally human and warm.
AI has no lived experience. It has never felt grief, navigated a difficult relationship, or sat with someone in their darkest moment. Archana has. That difference — between processed text and genuine human empathy — is not a small one. It is the entire point of counselling.
Beyond that, there are real risks to using AI for emotional support. AI can confidently say the wrong thing at the wrong moment. It cannot assess risk. It cannot adjust its approach based on a gut feeling about what you need today. And it cannot be accountable to you in the way a trained, ethically bound professional is.
Think of it this way: you would not use an AI to perform surgery just because it can describe the procedure accurately. Your mental health deserves the same standard of care as your physical health — a real professional, focused entirely on you.
